Do I Really Need A Marketing Plan? Growth Concepts For Businesses

You are a smart businessperson so you will ultimately be deciding this for yourself.  Our objective here is to ask questions that have a point of view on the subject; a point of view that is based on building many hundreds of marketing campaigns. Thanks for reading and congrats on recognizing the need for strategic business foundations in the dynamic 2018 marketing landscape.  Whatever you decide, we hope this list will help your current venture’s success.  Happy marketing!

Do you want to run and market your business like a seasoned Fortune 500 winner?  Coca-Cola still spends billions on their marketing, employing thousands to execute it, because they know they're getting a return. Invest in your marketing and have a strategic Marketing Plan in writing, respect your marketing like the investment that it is.  Your written marketing plan is critical. To quote Sun Tzu: "Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat."

Do you know your business can be bigger than it currently is (but even after investing in a great website and daily social media posts, can't figure out how to get there)?  Focus on what matters to include a strong strategic platform to build upon. Then, aggressively go get your customer and make money!

Do you have moments, or even periods of confusion over marketing choices leading to paralysis?  The tyranny of choice in today's marketing world is real.  Stop going down the rabbit hole of the next best thing that gets you nowhere.  Get a plan and focus.

Do you have a passion and real vision, but no plan?  Do you have lots of passion and ideas, lots of planning meetings, but no accountability and no path forward?  “Ready. Fire. Aim!”  Passion undirected is seldom strategic. And, often translates to launching a website, getting zero traffic and then running out of money while you're figuring out what to do.

Do you view marketing as something to be forgotten about when times are good and dialed-up when something is wrong?  The best companies in the world spend billions on marketing. Marketing is essential for growth.  Don't ignore it.

Do/did you have a clear plan for the important things in your life? For example, did attending or graduating college happen by accident? Was there a financial plan in place to purchase your first home? Most successful people have goals and then put plans in place to get there.
At Custom Marketing we think that plans are key to a successful life and especially to strong marketing initiatives and activations.  If you share this view, consider a complimentary 30 minute call with us to determine if we can help you develop a custom Marketing Plan to help your business grow.
